Life after the apocalypse

Edward sat typing at his computer, compiling information within his cubicle. His world consisted of an 8x8 box with carpeted walls to keep the click-clack from his keyboard from reaching his neighbor. He knew his neighbor's name, the name of his pets, but he really knew nothing about the man. Edward believed, like most at the time, that his cubicle was his kingdom. His postage-stamp sized domain, sovereign and true. What Edward did not realize that fifteen minutes before, a massive flare-up of solar activity has sent a mass of solar radiation on a collision course with Earth. Within the course of the next minute, all life on Earth would substantially be altered.

All Edward noticed was that the lights shut down and his computer turned off. The buildings reserve power failed to work, as did his computer's emergency power thingy. But globally, the packed solar radiation caused an electro-magnetic storm in the Earth's atmosphere and disabled every electronic device on the planet. All at once, the world was plunged back into the 19th century.

Now what has become of Edward? He has expanded his kingdom. He now controls four cubicles on either side of him. What became of his neighbor? Edward killed him and is wearing his skin as clothing. Edward finds it much better than oxford cloth.
